Gainesville Piccadilly Cafeteria closes

GAINESVILLE - When Colonial Lakeshore Mall in Gainesville was renovated and expanded 16 years ago, Morrison's Cafeteria was one of the first new tenants announced for the shopping complex.

Now, the cafeteria that succeeded Morrison's a few years ago has closed.

Piccadilly Cafeteria has closed, amid reports of sluggish sales, leaving about 25 people without a job.

Piccadilly's latest financial report, which can be found on its Web site, shows the Louisana-based chain lost about $2.5 million during the quarter ending April 1, compared to income of three million dollars for the same period a year ago.
