Jefferson girls second at state track meet

ALBANY - The Jefferson girls track team finished second in Class A in the Georgia High School Association state track and field meet Saturday.<br>

But it was Landmark Christian's 162 points that stole the show. Jefferson had 35 points.<br>

The Lady War Eagles dominated their classification for their fourth straight state championship.<br>
<br>
The gap in the four larger classifications wasn't as big. <br>
<br>
Southeast Bulloch edged Pace Academy 45-41 in Class AA, Monroe-Albany took Class AAA by 37 points, Dunwoody beat Chamblee in Class AAAA by 13 points and in Class AAAAA, Collins Hill edged Shiloh 53-44. <br>

In Class AAA, Gainesville stood sixth after the first day but failed to move up.<br>
<br>
Landmark Christian's Evette Holyfield won the meet's High Point Award trophy. The daughter of heavyweight boxer Evander Holyfield, she accounted for 33 of her team's points. <br>
<br>
No state records fell in Saturday's competition. Collins Hill's 400-meter relay team came the closest. The Lady Eagles ran a 46.5 on Saturday, but missed the state mark of 46.46 set last year by Marietta in qualifying.
