New jail could be delayed in Barrow County

WINDER - A Barrow County commissioner planned to move to table a proposal for a new jail at a public meeting Tuesday night.<br> <br> Norma Jean Brown says she wants the commission to study other sites a detention center could be located.<br> <br> Brown says a work release program could be developed to temporarily relieve jail overcrowding.<br> <br> Some residents near the place that has been proposed for the new detention center have expressed their concern to Brown and other Barrow County commissioners. They say the jail would jeopardize their security and property values.
