Gainesville Memorial Day weekend events set

GAINESVILLE - A number of community groups in the Gainesville area are working together to present what they say may be "the largest Memorial Day celebration in northeast Georgia history."

The "Proud to be An American" weekend begins Saturday with the placement of American flags on the graves of all veterans buried at Alta Vista and Memorial park cemeteries.

It continues Sunday with the dedication of Hall County's first "Blue Star" marker on Mundy Mill Road in front of Gainesville College and ends Monday with a parade down Green Street and a special ceremony downtown.
