AUGUSTA - Martha Burk has criticized a judge who barred her group from protesting the Masters at the front gate of Augusta National Golf Club.
Burk - the head of National Council of Women's Organizations said ``party revelers are taking precedence over legitimate protesters.''
Burk wants Augusta National to admit its first female member. She plans to appeal U.S. District Judge Dudley Bowen Junior's ruling that her group be restricted to a site a half-mile away.
Augusta Sheriff Ronald Strength says safety concerns at the main entrance of club justify the move.
Burk and the Georgia chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union will take their case to the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta.
But time is short. The Masters begins Thursday.
