The Cost Of War Is Far Less Than The Cost of 9-11

There was considerable debate recently about the cost of the current war, not only the conflict in Iraq but also the entire war on terrorism, Iraq included. Some charged it will cost more than the president predicted. Sone anti-war activists insisted we should simply stop fighting, spend that money for what they call the social goo, and thney say we would come out okay.

In the midst of this debate avout allocating tax dollars for the war on terrorism, I haven't heard an estimate of the cost to we Americans of the brutal attack on the United States of America on September 11, 2001. Do you remember the knot in your stomach when you saw the twin towers collapse in New York? What is the cost for rebuilding the Pentagon? The cost of four airliners? The cost to all the businesses in the Twin Towers that had to relocate? Our airlines are still in trouble because of that attack on America. Not to mention the stock market. And what about our local people in the tourism business, or Atlanta with its conventions? Not only did we lose 3,000 American lives in the 9-11 attack on America, we Americans have also lost billions of dollars.

If the standard for going to war is that we must wait until we are attacked before we spend money for military action, then it seems to me we are setting ourselves up for a fate far worse than 9-11.
