Mike Garvey passed Robbie Pyle with five laps remaining then held off Scott Lagasse, Jr. to claim a popular win in the ASA Racing Georgia 250 presented by Jani King at Lanier National Speedway.
Butch Miller set the early pace from his pole position starting spot in a race slowed by 12 cautions and 85 laps.
Veterans Gary St. Amant and Kevin Cywinski each took turns atop the leaderboard before Pyle grabbed the top position in the closing laps.
Garvey, whose car worked well both high and low in the corners on the .375 mile track all evening, used the top lane to muscle his way around Pyle on lap 245. The power move on his home track brought the near-capacity crowd to its feet.
"This was by far the best victory in my career," said Garvey who earned his 14th career ASA win. "There is nothing better than this."
Casey Smith finished third while Peachtree City's Reed Sorenson grabbed fourth after an up-and-down evening in a race which saw 17 cars finish on the lead lap. Miller wound up fifth.
