KISSIMMEE, FLORIDA - Mike Hampton has grown weary of talking about his two seasons with the Colorado Rockies.

The thin air of Coors Field derailed the two-time All-Star's career.

In Colorado, where the natural movement on his sinker disappeared at the high altitude, he tried to get hitters out by throwing four-seam fastballs by them. But that only worked part of the time.

Now, the left-hander says those years are history. Since his trade to the pitching-friendly Atlanta Braves, he's feeling a lot more optimistic.

He shut out the New York Mets for six innings on Saturday and allowed only three hits. That performance cut his ERA from 7.07 to 4.95.

He's also working on getting his sinker back.
