CUTHBERT - Petitions are circulating a petition demanding that state Representative Gerald Greene get his history teaching post back after the superintendent told him he couldn't be a representative and a teacher at the same time.

The school board denied Greene's request for a leave of absence from Randolph-Clay County High School to serve in the Legislature, which is now in session. He was granted a leave of absence the previous 20 years.

Greene blames a political grudge, saying he was forced out because of his part in redrawing district lines for the school board and county commission in Randolph County.

Dr. Karen Kinsell, who has practiced medicine in Fort Gaines for four years, is helping circulate the petitions. He says 150 people have signed petitions in Clay County, which has 3,500 residents.
