Coach passengers asked to pay more for food on Delta

ATLANTA - Delta Air Lines will begin testing whether coach passengers will pay extra for in-flight food. <br> <br> The Atlanta-based carrier is joining American West and Northwest, which already are conducting the tests. <br> <br> Delta will begin selling name-brand snacks priced from two dollars to seven dollars during a six-day trial on flights between New York&#39;s John F. Kennedy International Airport and Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Food is not usually served on those flights. <br> <br> Choices include Mrs. Fields cookies, Entenmann&#39;s cinnamon rolls and Pizzario Uno sandwiches. <br> <br> The test ends Saturday. <br> <br> Delta is considering selling food on both its regular flights and those at a new low-fare subsidiary -- Song. <br> <br> The president of the Air Travelers Association -- David Stempler -- says some passengers will like the option of buying food because airlines have eliminated food service on many domestic flights. <br> <br> But he says some passengers also will be reminded of the time when in-flight meals were included in the price of a ticket. <br> <br> American West and Northwest began similar tests in the past month.
