Shelley Nickel, a former policy adviser to the chancellor of the university system, was chosen Tuesday by the board of the Georgia Student Finance Commission to replace Glenn Newsome. Newsome had run the agency for six years.
In a statement Wednesday, the governor said, ``Shelley Nickel is committed to the people of Georgia and our students who seek to further their education.''
Nickel also has been budget director for the Board of Regents and before that was a policy analyst in the state Office of Planning and Budget.
