LaFAYETTE - An airplane with two northeast Georgia men aboard crashed into the living room of a home in this small northeast Georgia town shortly after 1 p.m. Saturday, authorities said. No one was seriously injured.
LaFayette Public Safety Director Dino Richardson said the single-engine Cessna 182 took off from LaFayette Airport less than a quarter of a mile away. The pilot told him that it lost power, Richardson said.

``We're very, very lucky nobody was hurt,'' he said.
The pilot, Everett Womack, 59, of Blue Ridge, Ga., had a cut across the bridge of his nose. The passenger, Steve Bailey, also of Blue Ridge, had cuts on one of his hands.

``I just thank God we're alive,'' Womack said.
Darryl McBrayer, who rents the house, was helping a neighbor down the street when the plane hit the house.

McBrayer's three children were across the street at a store, and his wife, Tyra, was in the bedroom when the crash occurred, he said.
Melvin Bridges, the liaison between the LaFayette City Airport and the City Council, said the plane had just filled up with 80 gallons of gas.

``The pilot said he took off and lost power and either had to crash into Otting (International) or attempt to get back to the airport,'' Bridges said. ``He said he banked and this is where he ended up.''
Officials with the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Safety and Transportation Bureau were traveling from Atlanta to investigate the crash, Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson said.
