ATLANTA - United Parcel Service announced Monday that more than 3,300 Mail Boxes Etcetera franchises across the country will be renamed The UPS Store.
Atlanta-based UPS says the change will let franchises lower prices for UPS air express, ground and international shipping service. The company acquired Mail Boxes Etcetera in 2001.
UPS says it tested new name in Saint Louis and Seattle and found that the change increased overall shipping volume by 70 percent over the previous year.
Company officials say it has no plans to change the name of the one-thousand Mail Boxes Etcetera stores outside the U.S.
San Diego-based Mail Boxes Etcetera is the world's largest franchisor of retail shipping, postal and business services.
