Belmont whips struggling Georgia St.

ATLANTA - Adam Sonn scored 19 points and had 14 rebounds - all on defense - as Belmont defeated Georgia State 72-57 Thursday night and improved its road record to 7-0 in the Atlantic Sun Conference. <br>

Belmont (14-10, 9-3 ASUN) opened a three-game lead in the conference's North Division. Georgia State (10-12, 5-6) lost its third straight. <br>
<br>
The Panthers trailed 38-17 at halftime after shooting just 19 percent (7-36). <br>
<br>
Belmont led by 25 points, 46-21 and 51-26, in the first five minutes of the second half. <br>
<br>
Forward Cedric Patton, starting in place of the suspended Trello Galloway, led GSU with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Leroy Davis had 13 points and 10 rebounds.
