High school track star dies

BROOKLET - A 17-year-old track star at Southeast Bullock High School has died during a workout.<br> <br> The principal at the school in southeast Georgia -- Tom Bigwood -- said Thursday that Derrick Plankenhorn was jogging during what he called a ``moderate workout&#39;&#39; about 5 p.m. Wednesday when he collapsed.<br> <br> The principal says coaches reached Plankenhorn within seconds and administered CPR while awaiting medical rescue personnel but were unable to revive the teen. An ambulance arrived about 20 minutes later. Bigwood says emergency personnel also administered CPR but that, too, was unsuccessful.<br> <br> Bulloch County Coroner Jake Futch did not know the cause of death. He says the body will be sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab for an autopsy.
