Mirants professional fees in bankruptcy case exceed $34 million

<p>Mirant Corp.s bankruptcy case has already cost the energy supplier $34 million in professional fees _ and thats just through the last reporting date in October.</p><p>Thirty-one law firms, consultants, accounting firms, clerical companies and other specialists hired by Atlanta-based Mirant recorded more than $30 million in fees and another $4 million in expenses such as meals and lodging in three months.</p><p>The bankruptcy courts tally only includes fees and expenses billed and approved through October _ and the meter is still running. Experts say a large bill for a complex bankruptcy case is not unusual.</p><p>Mirant filed for protection from its creditors on July 14 in Fort Worth, Texas.</p><p>The bankruptcy is the 11th largest in U.S. history.</p>
