Reception planned for Mayor Lawson

GAINESVILLE - A reception will be held next week for retiring Gainesville Mayor Sissy Lawson - the first woman to serve on the city council and the town's first female mayor.

Lawson is stepping down January 6 after 18 years on the city council and two terms as mayor.

The reception will be held next Thursday, December 18, at the Martha Hope Campfire Cabin at Prior Street and Memorial Drive behind the civic center.
