RABBITTOWN - The Lakeview Academy boys basketball team opened up a quick first quarter lead and then held on to beat Chestatee 61-55 in the consolation bracket of the Lanierland Tournament Thursday night at the East Hall gym.

In other action from Thursday, the North Hall boys beat Flowery Branch 68-50; the North Hall girls beat Lakeview Academy 64-46 and the West Hall girls beat Chestatee 54-46.

Chestatee (1-7) outscored the Lions (7-3) 37-28 in the second half but could not overcome a 15-point halftime deficit.

"We were fortunate to come out with a victory the way we played in the second half," Lakeview boys coach Richie Hughes said. "Chestatee really came out and played well in the second half."

Dustin Wellborn led Lakeview, which will play North Hall in final round of the consolation bracket Saturday at 5:30 p.m., with 17 points. Tony Cash added 12 and Will Crumley 10 for the Lions.

Chestatee was led Corey Black's 18 points. Jesus Cantu added 11.

NORTH HALL BOYS 68, FLOWERY BRANCH 50:

The Trojans' Robby Hamilton nearly outscored Flowery Branch pouring in 30 points in the win.

North Hall (3-4) jumped out to a 20-10 lead and held Flowery Branch (5-5) to just 21 first-half points.

Zac Swansey led the Falcons with 16 points.

North Hall had four players foul out and coach Bobby Pless was shocked at the end.

"We had four guys go out and we still found a way to win. That was amazing," he said. "But Robby just had a great game for us."
