West Hall, North Hall advance in Lanierland consolation

RABBITTOWN - Megan Westmoreland poured in 22 points to lead the eighth-seeded north Hall girls basketball team to a 64-46 upset win over Lakeview Academy in the girls consolation bracket of the Lanierland Tournament Thursday night at the East Hall gym.

Lakeview (6-4) led 18-17 after the first quarter but the Lady Trojans (3-5) used a 19-3 second quarter to blow the game open.

"We switched to a man-to-man defense in the second quarter and were able to get some things going," North Hall coach Debbie Blake said.

Caitlyn Tilson added 14 points for North Hall, which snapped a four-game losing streak with the win.

Christi Thomas led Lakeview with 16 points. Chelsea Chastain added 9 for the Lady Lions.

WEST HALL 54, CHESTATEE 46:

The Lady Spartans (6-2) outscored Chestatee 3-6) 23-11 in the second and third quarters to pull away for the win.

West Hall led just 13-12 after the first quarter but went into the final period with a 36-23 lead.

The Lady War Eagles outscored West Hall 23-18 in the fourth quarter but could get no closer.

Paige Hanson led West Hall with 13 points and Lindsey Paulson added 12.

Brooke Puckett led Chestatee with 14 points and Erika Rylee added 13.
