Man wanted in Georgia murders captured in Wisconsin

<p>A man suspected in the shooting deaths of two real estate agents in Georgia was arrested Saturday in Wisconsin after a police chase.</p><p>Sheriffs deputies arrested Stacy Ian Humphreys, 30, in Hartford after the 20-minute chase that started in Waukesha County at about 5:30 a.m. when deputies spotted a silver Jeep Cherokee and man that matched the description of Humphreys and his vehicle, said Waukesha County Sheriffs Detective Steve Pederson. Hartford is about 35 miles northwest of Milwaukee.</p><p>An arrest warrant had been issued for Humphreys, who failed to show up for a meeting with his parole officer Friday morning. He fled when police went to his home to take him in for questioning in the Monday deaths of Lori Brown, 21, of Powder Springs, Ga., and Cynthia Williams, 33, of Acworth, Ga.</p><p>During the chase that started in the Town of Delafield, deputies from several agencies tried to stop the Jeep Cherokee with spike strips, but he wouldnt stop, Pederson said. Speeds reached 100 miles an hour, he said.</p><p>For a good portion of the chase he was driving on rims and eventually he couldnt go any further, Pederson said.</p><p>He finally stopped in a parking lot behind Aurora Medical Center in Hartford, about 22 miles north from where the chase started.</p><p>Pederson said Humphreys didnt put up a fight when he was arrested. Pederson didnt know if had any weapons.</p><p>Pederson also didnt know why Humphreys was in Wisconsin, but said he was alone in his vehicle.</p><p>Cpl. Brody Staud of Cobb County Police in Georgia said the department will send detectives to Wisconsin to question Humphreys, who is expected to be extradited soon.</p><p>Humphreys has a record of felony convictions dating back to 1993 that includes burglary, auto theft and forgery. He was released on parole in October 2002.</p><p>Brown and Williams were employees of Morrison Homes in the Oakwind subdivision in west Cobb County. They were found shot to death in the model home of the development.</p><p>Pederson wasnt sure when Humphreys would make a court appearance for extradition to Georgia, but said he would likely be charged with eluding law enforcement in Wisconsin.</p><p>Humphreys was being held in the Waukesha County jail Saturday, he said.</p>
