Valdosta St. shuts out Arkansas Tech

RUSSELLVILLE, ARKANSAS - Barrett Wilkes completed 17 of 25 passes for 207 yards and a touchdown Saturday as Valdosta State cruised to a 30-0 Gulf South Conference victory over Arkansas Tech.<br>

The Blazers ((9-1, 7-1 GSC) held the Wonder Boys (5-5, 4-4) to just 80 yards of total offense. It was Tech's worst performance since East Central University allowed the Wonder Boys only 68 yards in 1993.<br>

A 36-yard return of a fumble recovery in the opening quarter by Dee Williford opened the scoring for the Blazers. Buster Faulkner scored on a 3-yard run in the second period, and Will Rhody kicked a 28-yard field goal for a 17-0 score at the half.<br>

VSU got a third-period touchdown when Wilkes connected with Andre Zellner on a 12-yard pass play, and Rhody added two more field goals in the final quarter, one from 43 yards, the other a 27-yard kick.
