That can now be updated to 2003.
The Eagles (7-4) beat Southland Academy 16-6 Friday night in a GISA Class AAA first round playoff game.
Coach Doug Dixon said it was perhaps the best performance of the year for his Eagles.
"The defense played an outstanding, dominating game. I can't say enough good things about how they played," Dixon said. "The offense executed very well when it needed too and we took advantage of the opportunities we got."
The Eagles next will plat Tattnall Square, the No. 2-ranked team in GISA Class AAA.
"It's going to be a challenge but I said last week I thought we had a chance to do something in the playoffs. If we play like we did tonight, we can win that game," Dixon said.
Carl Robinson finished with 110 yards and one
touchdown, which gave Riverside a lead it would never relinquish. After a safety, in the third quarter, the Eagles put the game away on a 16-yard scoring pass from Bill daly to Chris Seymour.
But the star of the game was linebacker Danny Robinson, who led Riverside with 20 tackles.
"He probably had more than that but we'll have see the film to get the exact number," Dixon said. "Danny has been out leader all year and he showed a lot of senior leadership tonight. he played a great game."
Justin Curry, broderick Stewart and Russ Allen also had solid games defensively, Dixon said.
