First freeze of the season for most of NE Georgia

UNDATED - The coldest weather of the season, so far, settled over north Georgia Friday morning - as expected.

Temperatures were at or near freezing in most places.

At 6:00, it was 35 in Gainesville and Clarkesville, 30 in Ellijay, 26 in Clayton, and 28 in Blairsville.

It was still breezy,, but not as windy as Thursday - and wind chills across north Georgia were below freezing in most places. The peak gust recorded Thursday in Gainesville was 38-miles-an-hour at 1:15.

Temperatures Thursday fell almost 30 degreesin 24 hours - from 66 at midnight Wednesday to a low of 39 at midnight Thursday.
