Lady Falcons spoil debut for new North Hall coach

FLOWERY BRANCH - The Flowery Branch girls basketball team, which was the biggest surprise in Region 7-AAA last year in its first year, opened its second season with a 55-50 win over North Hall Tuesday night.<br>

The Lady Falcons used an 11-2 run in the fourth quarter to blow open a close game and then held on down the stretch.<br>
<br>
In the boy's game, North hall kept the Flowery Branch boys winless for their existence with a 68-53 win.<br>
<br>
Flowery Branch's Kristina Tyler led all scorers with 22 points and freshman Courtney Newton added 17 to give the Lady Falcons a potent one-two punch.<br>
<br>
North Hall was led by Megan Westmoreland's 17 points. She also scored her 1,000th point of her career during the game.<br>
<br>
In the boy's game, the Falcons looked much better than last year when the Trojans routed them by nearly 50 points.<br>
<br>
Flowery Branch trailed just 36-34 at halftime and was in the game until North Hall went on an 11-0 run in the third quarter to pull away.<br>
<br>
Ronny Hulsey led North Hall with 23 points. Russ Short added 14 and Robbie Hamilton 13 for the Trojans.<br>
<br>
Zac Swansey led Flowery Branch with 11 points.
