GAINESVILLE - Finishing touches are being put on New Holland Elementary School this holiday weekend in preparation for the arrival of students and staff Monday morning.

Gainesville school board member Frank Harben said Friday morning all should be ready when the doors open for about 350 students Monday. They and their teachers have been housed at Enota since school started in August.

Harben says faculty and staff will be getting the classrooms ready for students this weekend and there are still some minor things associated with the construciton of the school - such as tile and ceiling work - that need to be finished.

However, he says he expects no major distractions when the students arrive for class Monday morning - the first day of school after the Thanksgiving holdiays. New Holland students and teachers have been housed at Enota Elementary School since the school year started in August.

New Holland is one of two new schools in the city school system this year. The other, Gainesville Elementary School, which is on McEver Road Extension, was ready the first day of the school year.
