GAINESVILLE - Riverside Military Academy football coach Doug Dixon knew it was a tall task.

But he probably hoped for a little better showing than the 35-6 loss to No. 1 George Walton Academy in the two teams' GISA Region 1 I-AAA opener.

The Bulldogs (8-0, 1-0) blew open a close game in the second half.

The Eagles (5-3, 0-1) trailed just 14-6 at halftime with David Elam kicking field goals of 20 and 19 yards.

the second field goal was set up by an 83-yard interception return by Chris Seymour. The Eagles were inside the george Walton 5-yard line twice in the first half.

The Bulldogs opened the third quarter driving to a quick score to make it 21-6. Riverside could muster little offense in the second half.

The Eagles, who have lost three of four games after a 4-0 start, will travel to Augusta christian next week. A win would clinch the Eagles first winning season in nearly a decade.
