Dawson, Buford set for Class AA tourney

ROME - The Dawson County girls softball team will open the Class AA North Sectional Tournament playing No. 4 Dade County Friday night at 6 p.m. at Alto Park in Rome.<br> <br> The Lady Tigers, ranked No. 10 along with Buford in the final softball poll of the year, finished fourth in Region 8-AA. They are the last team to beat Class AAA No. 3-ranked North Hall during the season.<br> <br> Buford will open against Armuchee. No. 2-ranked Providence Christian, also in Region 8-AA, will play Rockmart and No. 3-ranked Greater Atlanta Christian will play Calhoun.<br> <br> In Class A action at Heritage Park in McDonough, Towns County County will open play against No. 5 Bremen. Rabun Gap will play No. 6 Gordon Lee.<br> <br> All sectionals are double-elimination tournaments.<br> <br> The top four teams in the North and South sectionals will advance to the state tournament next week.
