Clausen SEC offensive player of week

BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA - Tennessee quarterback Casey Clausen was named the Southeastern Conference offensive player of the week Monday.<br>

Clausen passed for four touchdowns three in overtime and one in the final two minutes of regulation and rushed 1 yard for the game-winning score in the Volunteers' 51-43, five-overtime win over Alabama.<br>

LSU defensive tackle Chad Lavalais claimed defensive honors after racking up eight tackles, three for a loss, in a 31-7 win over Auburn.<br>
<br>
Lavalais stopped Carnell Williams for a 5-yard loss on a fourth-and-1 on Auburn's first possession, setting up an LSU touchdown. He also had a sack for minus 13 yards on Auburn's next possession.<br>
<br>
Kentucky's Derek Abney was named special teams player of the week. He returned a punt 80 yards for a touchdown against Mississippi State Saturday, the eighth time in his career he has scored on a kick or punt return in his career, tying an NCAA record.<br>
<br>
Abney accounted for 212 all-purpose yards, including four receptions for 80 yards and a TD and a 21-yard run. He leads the SEC and ranks second nationally with 165.9 all-purpose yards per game.<br>
<br>
Abney has broken or tied five NCAA, nine SEC and 12 school records.
