Man enters plea to federal auto theft charges

BILOXI, MISSISSIPPI - A 52-year-old Pascagoula, Mississippi, man has entered an innocent plea to federal charges of interstate car theft. <br> <br> Clyde Anthony Murchison the third appeared in federal court Tuesday in Biloxi, Mississippi. He was arrested in December by the Pascagoula Police Department. <br> <br> At the time of his arrest he was going by the name Clyde Whitt Murchison. Police said it was later learned the defendant also used eight other aliases. <br> <br> Officers said Murchison is charged with two counts of transporting stolen vehicles across state lines. <br> <br> Authorities said Murchison, who is being held without bond, is also wanted in Nevada and Louisiana. <br> <br> Pascagoula police Captain Jamie Hunter said the investigation that led to the arrest began in November when a citizen reported to law officers that Murchison, who had recently moved to the area, was acting suspiciously. <br> <br> Detectives learned the 1998 Mercedes being driven by Murchison had been stolen from Cobb County, Georgia. Investigators said that while in Cobb County, Murchison allegedly went to a car dealership and asked to take the car for a test drive. The vehicle was not returned.
