GAINESVILLE - A three-year-old South Hall boy is recovering after being bitten by a neighbor's dog Monday afternoon.

Hall County Animal Control Officer Rick Phillips says the youngster was riding a new toy when the attack occurred.

"Reports show the child was riding a little four-wheel toy that he had received for Christmas," Phillips said. "The dog was loose and for no known reason at this time, came into the victim's yard and attacked the child."

Phillips said the youngster was "bitten in the head."

He said charges are pending against the dog's owner and that there are no records to indicate the dog was "current" on its rabies vaccination.

"We have no record of that at this time, so, we are treating it as uninoculated," Phillps added.

He said the dog, a mixed-breed German Shepher, is being held in a mandatory 10-day quarantine and that charges against its owner are pending.
