Father, son charged with battery against referee

ADAIRSVILLE - A father and son accused of accosting a referee at an Adairsville High School basketball game were released on $2,000 bonds Wednesday after being charged with simple battery. <br> <br> Tommy Dale Coker, 43, and Kyle Coker, 18, were arrested on charges filed by the Bartow County Board of Education Police Department Wednesday morning, BOE Police Chief Thad Kinney said. <br> <br> Kinney said Tommy Coker was asked to leave the gym Tuesday night by a BOE officer when Coker yelled obscenities at the referees after his son Alex, a player for Adairsville, was called for a technical foul in a game against Dade County. <br> <br> Coker went on the court and put his hands on a referee in the neck and shoulder area, Kinney said. He said that while Coker was being escorted out, Kyle Coker entered the court and pushed a referee from behind.
