MIAMI, FLORIDA - A couple who admitted running a high-priced call girl operation out of a landmark luxury hotel received reduced sentences Thursday.
Judy Krueger, 59, received 21 months in prison, 30 less than she could have gotten under federal sentencing guidelines. Her live-in companion, 70-year-old Eli Tish, received 16 months, 10 less than he could have gotten.
Prosecutors said that since their arrest on racketeering charges last March, Krueger and Tish assisted federal agents in identifying and setting up other members of ``The Circuit,'' a nationwide ring of five-star prostitutes.
U.S. District Judge Adalberto Jordan imposed the lesser sentences at the urging of prosecutors Scott Ray and Richard Gregorie.
Based in part on Krueger's information, the FBI and Internal Revenue Service in August leveled such charges as racketeering, conspiracy, mail fraud and money laundering against a dozen others across the country.
According to prosecutors, The Circuit ran exclusive brothels in Miami, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Phoenix, New Orleans, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Atlanta and Washington. The organization provided housing, room, board, drugs, referrals and wealthy clients for the upscale prostitutes, the government said.
The Circuit also shuttled the call girls, who made from $350 to $400 an hour, from city to city to meet demand and avoid police detection.
In Miami, Krueger and Tish rented two apartments $1,600 a month apiece at the swanky Four Ambassadors Hotel on South Brickell Bay Drive. While Krueger dispatched prostitutes to hotels, homes and condos across South Florida, Tish saw to the day-to-day operation of the business, attorneys said.
