WOONSOCKET, RHODE ISLAND - CVS Corporation will pay $1.1 million to settle claims it violated consumer protection laws in more than a dozen states including Tennessee.
Attorneys general in 18 states -- including Georgia -- and the District of Columbia claimed the Rhode Island-based pharmacy chain improperly accepted full payment for prescriptions that were only partially filled because of stock shortages.

The pharmacy can't accept any payment until a prescription is completely filled.
The settlement did not require the pharmacy chain to admit any wrongdoing.
CVS spokesman Todd Andrews says any incorrect billing for partially filled prescriptions was inadvertent.
