Atlanta's Dayna Smith announces retirement

ATLANTA - Atlanta Beat defender Dayna Smith announced her retirement Thursday from the WUSA team. <br> <br> Smith was the only player to take part in all 23 games during Atlanta&#39;s inaugural season in 2001, when the Beat reached the championship game. She played only five games last season. <br> <br> The 28-year-old Smith has a sales position with GE Consumer Products, based in Los Angeles.
