WOODSTOCK - Larry Boehmer and his wife Judy don't mind juggling the responsibilities of their eleven children. For this 13-person traveling circus, juggling is a way of life.

The Boehmers are one of the largest families of jugglers in the world. The professional juggling troupe based in Cherokee County travels all over the nation and performs at festivals, theme parks and sports events.

The children, ages five to 28, picked up on most of the juggling tricks from their parents -- each learning their skills at their own pace. Larry currently is teaching his youngest, five-year-old Margaret, the family business.
Larry, a former pipeline worker for Shell Oil, was the first to pick up on the trade by reading juggling books on long trips. He shared his hobby with his first four children, and the other young performers were soon to follow.
Despite their unorthodox lifestyle, Larry and Judy Boehmer insist their family is just like any other. Their children are home-schooled, and like most parents, the husband and wife team have to mediate sibling rivalries.
