Virginia-based cooperative buys Maola Milk

NEW BERN, NORTH CAROLINA - A company that markets milk for 1,600 East Coast dairy farms and owns two milk processing plants bought Maola Milk and Ice Cream Company for an undisclosed price. <br> <br> The deal between the Reston, Virgina-based Maryland And Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative and the 68-year-old New Bern dairy company is expected to close January 31. <br> <br> Maryland And Virginia Milk owns Red Oak, a milk processing plant being built in Baxley in southeast Georgia. <br> <br> A spokeswoman for Maryland And Virginia Milk says no layoffs are expected.
