Pet ordinance dropped in Cobb County

MARIETTA - A Cobb County plan that would limit pet ownership has gone to the dogs -- after much dispute from local pet owners. <br> <br> The county&#39;s Animal Control Board dismissed the plan Tuesday that would have limited residents to owning a total of five cats and dogs. <br> <br> About 150 relieved animal lovers applauded the board&#39;s decision. Opponents felt the proposal violated their rights and stepped on their relationships with pets. <br> <br> One seven-year-old boy said his family owns six cats and two dogs. He did not want to get rid of any of them. <br> <br> The proposal was drawn up to address animal nuisance complaints. <br> <br> Board chairwoman Joy Evilsizor agreed with the crowd and said the proposal would unfairly penalize responsible pet owners. <br> <br> The Cobb County Commission has the final say on any changes to animal control laws. But Commission Chairman Sam Olens says the five-pet limit is not on the agenda because the majority of the board opposes the measure.
