Construction to partially close Downtown Connector on weekends

ATLANTA - Some lanes of Interstates 75 and 85 - known as the Downtown Connector - will be closed during the weekends this winter because of a construction project. <br> <br> Work on the new 17th Street Bridge in midtown Atlanta is scheduled to begin as early as January 24. Construction is scheduled to begin Friday and Saturday nights at 9 p.m. and continue until 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. <br> <br> The Georgia Department of Transportation says on some weekend nights all lanes going in one direction to the Connector will be closed to traffic. <br> <br> DOT spokesman Mark McKinnon says factors including the weather will determine the construction schedule. <br> <br> The DOT says only one lane in either direction will be closed during the NBA All-Star Game February ninth at Philips Arena.
