KENNESAW - A Bartow County teacher was arrested Thursday on four sex charges, including child molestation, The Daily Tribune News of Cartersville reported.
Christie Herndon, 32, of Kennesaw, a seventh grade science teacher at Cass Middle school, allegedly molested a 14-year-old female student Dec. 19, according to a police report filed with the Bartow County's Sheriff's Department.
Since the alleged incident took place in Kennesaw, Herndon was arrested by Cobb County police. She was released on a $55,050 bond Thursday night, the paper said in a story for Friday's editions.
Bartow County Sheriff Clark Millsap said Herndon was still under investigation.
``We are still trying to determine if anything happened in Bartow County,'' Millsap said.
A report was filed by the girl's mother Dec. 22, and Herndon was removed from her teaching duties. But she still has a job, said Bartow County Schools Interim Superintendent Alan Zubay.
``We know she was arrested, but we don't know what the charges are.'' Zubay said. ``Her employment status won't change right now. Once we review the charges with our attorney, we will decide a course of action.''
David Perry, Herndon's attorney, didn't return a phone message left by newspaper.
