RINGGOLD - A jury has ruled that the city of Fort Oglethorpe didn't defame former streets department employee Homer Moye.

Moye sued the city in the aftermath of his wife's election to the Fort Oglethorpe City Council in November 1999.

Moye claimed another city employee defamed him by calling a local TV program the day before the election to ask whether he had stolen aluminum bleachers, and his suit contended the employee directed another man to call the program and talk about a reprimand and three-day suspension Moye received in 1996.

City Manager Paul Page says jurors found no wrongdoing by the city.
