Frigid temps greet north Georgians

UNDATED - Temperatures fell into the single-digits in many places in north Georgia Saturday morning.

The coldest official reporting stations in northeast Georgia were Blue Ridge and Blairsville - each with a low of five-degrees.

Elsewhere, it was 8 in Ellijay and 9 in Clayton.

Lows in most places in the region were in the teens. It was 14 in Gainesville, the lowest reading here since the temperature hit 15 back on January 3, 2001.

Temperatures are expected to remain unusually cold through Sunday night, but should moderate Monday, with highs reaching the mid-50s in Gainesville.
