JONESBORO - Jury selection was expected to begin Tuesday in the second trial of a teen linked to the brutal robbery and slaying of her grandparents.

An ax was used in the Jan. 23, 2000, murders at the couple's Ellenwood home.

Deandrea Carter, 18, was returned to the Clayton County jail to await another trial in the slaying of Johhny Tubner, 71, and Fannie Mae Tubner, 63.

Carter's initial trial in October ended in a hung jury. The jury found Carter innocent on one count of murder and a firearms charge. There was no agreement on 17 other felony counts, mostly murder charges related to robbery.

Her former boyfriend, Richard Sealey, 38, was sentenced to death in August for the killings. Carter, 15 at the time, rode with Sealey and two other men to the Tubners' home. The prosecution contended that she gave directions, told Sealey the Tubners had a lot of money and stuck by him until the two were caught a month after the murders.

If convicted, Carter faces possible life in prison.
