ATLANTA - Former Georgia Attorney General Mike Bowers announced Thursday he is forming a political consulting firm to help clients with governmental and media relations, among other things.
The 61-year-old Bowers was the state's top legal officer from 1981 to 1997 when he resigned to run for governor. He lost his bid for the Republican nomination the following year after admitting to a long-term adulterous affair.
He since has been in private practice and his son, Bruce, was a key adviser to Governor Perdue's transition team.
Bruce Bowers and John Watson will be partners in the consulting firm. Watson was the general consultant to Perdue's campaign and vice chairman of his transition team.
The firm will be called WatsonBowers.
