ATLANTA - Governor Sonny Perdue, who is continuing to build his fledgling administration, dismissed the state's chief industry hunter Thursday and tapped a bank executive to replace him.
R.K. Sehgal, an appointee of former Governor Roy Barnes, will be succeeded by Glenn Cornell as commissioner of the Department of Industry, Trade and Tourism.

Cornell currently is senior vice president and manager of economic development and government relations for Bank of America Mid-South.

The appointment must be approved by the agency's board.
Sehgal played a key role in persuading DaimlerChrysler to locate a van assembly plant in Georgia. He was a close associate of many of the state's top Democrats when he headed an engineering and consulting firm, Law Companies Group, in the 1980s and 1990s.
Perdue, a Republican, has retained some Barnes appointees, but is replacing others.
Cornell will report to Jim Lientz, Perdue's chief operating officer and also a former Bank of America executive.
