The pilot of the single-engine Cessna reportedly missed his first landing attempt, turned around and then crashed the plane Thursday night.
When rescue crews arrived, they found a burning pile of debris, a downed power line and the pilot, who was rushed to UC Davis Medical Center. The pilot, whose name has not been released, reportedly suffered no major injuries.
National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration officials are investigating the crash.
Authorities say it's too early to tell if fog played a role in the accident, but visibility in the area was reportedly down to a quarter of a mile at the time.
