Carter to help caregivers and their families

AMERICUS - Former President Jimmy Carter is giving some of his one million dollar Nobel Peace Prize money to an institute his wife founded to help caregivers and their families. <br>

The Carters are expected to announce a their financial gift to the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Human Development on Tuesday. <br>
<br>
The institute is located at Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus. <br>
<br>
It was established in 1987 to provide some relief for caregivers, who care for people with physical and mental disabilities, the elderly or even children. They often struggle with physical and emotional stress, isolation, guilt and financial strain. <br>
<br>
The institute also promotes effective caregiving practices and builds public awareness of caregiving needs.
