ST. SIMONS ISLAND - Students in the fourth and fifth grades have finished making cards to send to U.S. troops oversees.
The 130 St. Simons Elementary School students are participating in ``Operation Heart to Heart,'' a nationwide project sponsored by the National Association of Elementary School Principals.
The students completed their paintings or valentines Friday, offering messages of appreciation and encouragement.
``They have been working on the cards for about two weeks,'' said Principal Melinda Cook. ``The kids have a good time doing it. It gives them pause to think what it means to be away from home serving your country.''
