Georgia students make cards for troops

ST. SIMMONS ISLAND - St. Simons Island students in the fourth and fifth grades have finished making cards to send to U.S. troops oversees. <br>

The 130 Saint Simons Elementary School students are participating in ``Operation Heart to Heart,'' a nationwide project sponsored by the National Association of Elementary School Principals. <br>
<br>
The students completed their paintings or valentines Saturday, offering messages of appreciation and encouragement. <br>
<br>
Principal Melinda Cook says the students have been working for two weeks, had a good time doing it and gave them pause to think about what it means to be away from home serving their country.
