Marines at Hunter Army Field go to North Carolina

Marines from the Second Beach and Terminal Operations Company and the Fourth Landing Support Battalion at Hunter Army Field are heading to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. <br> <br> Hunter spokesman Captain Kirk Spangenberg says the unit of 120 marines is trained to ship and operate heavy equipment. They could be deployed for up to a year. <br> <br> In another deployment, members of the 148th Medical Evacuation Company left for Fort Hood, Texas, Sunday. <br> <br> The members of the Georgia Army National Guard left the Army Aviation Support Facility Number one at Winder. <br> <br> Most of the 100-plus-member unit will assume duties of U.S. Army troops who have been deployed overseas. <br> <br> The 148th trains with the UH-1 helicopters to perform medical rescue missions. <br> <br> One member says the 148th likely will move to other Army bases within the U.S. and could eventually be sent to Fort Riley, Kansas, or Fort Carson, Colorado. <br> <br> Many company members believe they will be deployed one year or more.
