Republicans delay action on new voting districts

ATLANTA - Senate Republicans have delayed action on drawing new voting districts. They say they need to do more research before proposing a new process for redistricting. <br> <br> Senate Reapportionment Chairman Dan Lee -- a LaGrange Republican -- planned to announce a set of new laws that would make the redistricting process less partisan. <br> <br> Republicans in the Legislature want to ban the use of political data, which means legislators could not draw districts based on the way people vote to favor one party over the other. <br> <br> Republicans also say they want to make it illegal to split a voting precinct during reapportionment.
